Adding Your Site to Google Search Console

It is very easy and takes only few minutes.

  • First of all go to Google Search Console and click Start Now.
  • Sign in with your Gmail account. Enter your website URL.
  • According to Google HTTPS and HTTP are two different protocols. It means http://wpeasier.com and http://wpeasier.com are two different websites according to them.
  • You have to ensure entering the right URL of your site. If you don’t know your website URL, simply login to your WordPress admin panel and enter Settings > General page. You can check the site address field to see your website URL.
  • Once you enter the website address, click “Add Property” button to proceed. Next you will need to verify that you have your website. There are different ways in doing that. But HTML tag method is easiest one.
  • Click on HTML tag to expand and copy the code inside.
  • Next, install and activate the plugin “Insert Headers and Footers” on your WordPress.
  • Go to “Settings > Insert Headers & Footers” after activation and paste the code that is copied in “Scripts in header” box.
  • Click “Save” to store changes.
  • Click on “Verify” button on Google Search Console settings.
  • Now Google Search Console will look for HTML tag on your site code and show a success message.

Now you have added your site to Google Search Console. Visit the Google Search Console dashboard by clicking “Go to Property” link. If your website is not verified after adding code in the plugin “Insert Headers and Footer”, be sure to clear WordPress cache and try the above steps again.

Set up the Domain Name

URLs with and without www are two different pages for Google. Suppose you use your URL as https://www.example.com and someone links your URL as https://example.com, the link will go to different URL, not your URL. It could affect the performance of your site in search results as you have nothing to do with how others link to your site.

So, use your preferred domain setting to fix this in Google Search console. Switch to the older version by clicking on “Go to old version” from left column.

Now the search console will load older version. Click on Gear icon to set preferred domain and choose ‘Site Settings’.

It will show three different options for your domain on next screen. First option is that you don’t send preferred domain name. We don’t recommend trying it. You will see domain with and without www.

Choose one which you used when it comes to submit your URL to Google Search Console. It must be the same as you see in WordPress settings. Click on “Save” button to store settings. Now Google will use your domain when you follow site links when showing the same in search results.

Set Target Country

If you are going to target audiences in a particular country, you can tell Google apparently to target users in that country. Click “International Targeting” under “Search Traffic” menu on the old version of Google Search Console.

Go to Country tab and choose country you would like to target. By choosing a country, it doesn’t mean your site is not accessible in other countries. Google will still show the same if it is relevant to audiences in a different country in search results.

But setting a target country can give you a bit of SEO bump in local searches and Google understands your target audience. It will definitely help if you get to start your WordPress blog.

Add XML Sitemap

XML sitemap is the best way for site owners to speak with search engines on all the pages on their site. It also signals search engines which links on your site that is more important than others. By adding XML sitemap to your site, search engines can easily crawl on your site. Getting Started

WooCommerce is the best option to create product catalog. But you cannot use its shopping cart features. If you have a WordPress site, you may install WooCommerce plugin and activate it. After installing WooCommerce, you can create product catalog.

By default, “Add to Cart” or “Shop Now” button is placed next to all products in WooCommerce. Well, you can fix this issue with a simple solution. First of all, install YITH WooCommerce Catalog mode and activate this plugin.

Configure the settings under YITH Plugins > Catalog Mode. Check “Enable YITH WooCommerce Catalog Mode” option to activate plugin. Choose where you would like to hide this button.

Add Products to Product Catalog

You can add products to your website. Go to Products > Add New page to enter your product details. Provide product description, title, product image, short description, and product gallery on products screen. You will get price options in “Product” data section. You can skip displaying product pricing by leaving them blank. Publish your product once done. You can add as many products as you want to make a catalog.

View Your Product Catalog

You may visit WooCommerce shop to view default catalog running. Usually, your shop page is placed at URL like http://example.com/shop/.

Add your own website URL by replacing example.com to get your WooCommerce shop in catalog view. If you no longer need shop page, display your products on any page and use it as catalog. Create new WordPress page or edit the one you have already, and add this shortcode –

You may also want to change the limit of items per page and number of columns to limit to your own needs. After changing shortcode, publish or save your page to preview the same. Product pages will no longer show any “Buy” or “Add to Cart” buttons. Click on any product and see the page of product details. Once this plugin is activated, you can drag and drop Facebook Reviews widget in sidebar under Appearance > Widgets in your admin area.

Next up, add the title of widget and click “Connect to Facebook” button to introduce your pages in the widget.

Next up, you may want to expand the settings of widgets one after another to manage the way you can show page reviews on the blog. Activate Google rich snippets, set filters to display reviews, and add desired amount of reviews in Review Options.

Slider Options has features to expand slider. It will change the theme in display options by enabling Review Slider Theme. You can add as much reviews as you want to be seen on each slide by setting up slider speed. You can also manage cache, links, and API settings for page views in Advanced Settings.

About CDN

CDN or Content Delivery Network is a network of services which offer cached content from the sites to users on the basis of geographic location of user.

How to enable WooCommerce Customer Tracking with Google Analytics?

Set Up WordPress Ecommerce Tracking

  • First of all, you will want to install MonsterInsights plugin and install it.
  • Connect it to your Google Analytics account.
  • Go to Insights > Add-ons and install the add-on “MonsterInsights Ecommerce”. Click on Activate button.
  • Go to Insights > Settings and click on “Tracking” tab. Click on “Ecommerce” tab and check the box “Enhanced Ecommerce”
  • Click on “Demographics” and check the box next to “Enable user ID Tracking”.
  • Click on “Save Changes” to store settings.

Enable Enhanced Ecommerce Tracking

  • By default, Ecommerce tracking is not enabled in Google Analytics account by default, and you will need to enable it manually. Go to Google Analytics dashboard and turn to admin page.
  • Click “Ecommerce settings” and click slider and select “Enable Ecommerce” to turn on. Click on Next Step button to proceed.
  • Turn on “Enhanced Ecommerce Settings” in the next step and click “Submit” to save changes.
  • Now it will show enhanced ecommerce reports.

Enable Customer Tracking

Now that you have enhanced ecommerce tracking, it will open ecommerce reporting features. But by default, user tracking is not enabled.

  • Log in to your Google Analytics dashboard to enable customer tracking and open the admin page.
  • Click on “Tracking Info” link under property to expand submenu and click User-ID link.
  • On the next page, review and agree to user-ID policy and turn on. Click on “Next Step” to proceed.
  • Now Google Analytics will ask how you would setup user-ID tracking. Click on “Next Step” if you are using MonsterInsights to do this.
  • Click on “Create” to enable tracking user ID.
  • Enter “Reporting View Name” to display reports of User ID. Add “User-ID” in the name so you can remember where tracking is enabled.
  • Scroll down to the bottom and click “Create View” button and save changes.

View Customer Tracking Reports

Now everything is ready to go. Google Analytics will do the rest to track all your visitors. It will also track logged-in users with its different WordPress user ID.

  • To keep track on customer activity, click on “Audience > User Explorer” menu in your Google Analytics account.
  • You will see reports with a different ID assigned to all guest users.
  • Click on Google Analytics icon on the top left corner to view the report in WooCommerce for logged in users.
  • You can see your profile and check user-ID reporting view under ‘All website data’.
  • Load User-ID reporting view.
  • Click on “Audience > User Explorer” and you can see logged-in tracking report where each user has their own user id.
  • Click on it to see individual tracking data.
